On May 15th, 2017 the Town of Mendon will turn 350 years old. The Nipmuc Regional High School Social Studies department will be participating in the Mendon 350 celebration by incorporating lessons, field trips, and speakers into our curriculum and activities.
The Hopdale 1842 site was started in 2002, shortly after the publication of Images of America: Hopedale, to relate more of the history of Hopedale, Massachusetts. They have worked with many local communities and their historians to create separate menus for their towns. It is a wonderful resource with a library of classic photography. Check it out!

Mendon's Joseph Dorr Jr. and the American RevolutionMendon's Joseph Dorr Jr. was an active participant in the American Revolution. His service as a representative in the Massachusetts General Court in the 1760s introduced him to fellow legislator, Samuel Adams, who had a significant influence on his political thinking. The Harvard educated Dorr used his superior writing and oratory skills to inspire Mendon voters to approve and endorse the concepts of the Sons of Liberty and to lay the groundwork for one of the most important documents of colonial times. His devotion to the cause for independence was remarkable.
